Commercial HVAC in Colfax

We repair, replace and maintain heating and cooling for small businesses: rooftop packaged units, gas furnaces in back rooms, split systems and ductless heads. You get a written quote before work starts, and we check back after the job to make sure the system is holding up.

Heating and cooling that keeps your doors open

A dead rooftop unit is not just uncomfortable. It can mean customers walking out, staff working in coats, or a cooler room that cannot keep up. We focus on small commercial buildings like storefronts, offices, clinics, churches and workshops, where one or two units carry the whole space.

Our work covers diagnosis, repair, equipment replacement and planned seasonal service. We hold a gas heating mechanical license, so gas-fired rooftop units and furnaces are part of our everyday work, not something we hand off.

After any repair or new unit, we follow up to see how it is running and walk you or your manager through the few things worth watching, like filter changes, thermostat schedules and what a normal startup sounds like.

What our commercial work covers

Rooftop packaged unit repair
We trace failed igniters, inducer motors, contactors, capacitors and refrigerant problems on gas/electric rooftop units. Most issues we can fix on the first visit if the part is on the truck.
Gas heat diagnosis and repair
Under our gas heating mechanical license we test gas pressure, heat exchangers, flame sensors and venting. If we find a cracked exchanger or a venting problem, we show you and explain your options before touching anything else.
Cooling for offices and retail
We service split systems and rooftop cooling sections, clean coils, check charge and confirm the unit can handle a full afternoon of summer heat with a busy floor.
Equipment replacement
When a unit is past saving, we size the replacement to your space, occupancy and hours of use. Estimates on installations and replacements are free.
Ductless heads for problem rooms
Server closets, upstairs offices and add-on rooms often need their own system. Our Ductless Mini-Splits page covers how we handle those.
Scheduled maintenance
Spring and fall visits catch worn belts, dirty coils and weak igniters before they stop you mid-season. Our Maintenance Plans page has the details.

Signs your building needs a service call

  • One end is hot, the other cold

Uneven temperatures across a sales floor or office often point to a unit that has lost capacity or a zone that is not being served.

  • The unit short cycles

If you hear the rooftop unit kick on and off every few minutes, something is wrong with a sensor, the charge or the controls. Short cycling wears out compressors and burners fast.

  • Energy bills creeping up

A bill climbing month over month with the same hours usually means dirty coils, a slipping belt or a failing part forcing the system to run longer.

  • Gas smell or burner trouble

A gas odor, yellow flames or a heater that tries to light and then quits needs attention right away. Leave the area and reach us any time of day or night.

  • Water on the ceiling tiles

Stained tiles below a rooftop unit or air handler often mean a clogged condensate drain. Caught early, it is a simple fix.

What affects the cost of commercial HVAC work

Every building is different, so we price from what we actually see on site. You will have a written quote in hand before we start, and there are no emergency or after-hours fees if your system fails at night or on a weekend.

Type and size of equipment

A small split system costs less to service than a large rooftop packaged unit with gas heat and an economizer.

Roof and equipment access

Roof hatches, ladders, tight mechanical rooms and units over occupied space all change how long a job takes and what safety gear is needed.

Parts availability

Common motors and controls are easy to source. Older or proprietary boards may take longer and cost more to get.

Repair versus replacement

On an aging unit with a failed compressor or cracked heat exchanger, we lay out both paths so you can compare what each one costs over the next several years.

How a commercial service call goes

  1. 1

You call, we ask the right questions

We ask what kind of equipment you have, what it is doing and when the building is occupied, so we can plan around your business hours when that is possible.

  2. 2

    Diagnosis on site

We check the unit from the roof or mechanical room and show you what we found. Should you approve the fix, what you paid for that diagnostic comes off your repair bill.

  3. 3

    Written quote, then the work

You get a written quote before any work begins. Once you approve it, we make the repair, test a full heating or cooling cycle and clean up after ourselves.

  4. 4

    We check back

A few days later we follow up to confirm the system is holding temperature. We also leave clear notes on filter sizes, thermostat settings and what to watch for next season.

Commercial HVAC questions

Do you charge more for nights and weekends?

No. We do not add emergency or after-hours fees. A rooftop unit that quits on a Saturday gets the same pricing as one that quits on a Tuesday morning.

Can you work on gas-fired rooftop units?

Yes. We hold a gas heating mechanical license and work on gas heat sections of rooftop units, unit heaters and commercial furnaces. We test for safe combustion and proper venting on every gas repair.

Can you work around our business hours?

For planned repairs, replacements and maintenance, we try to schedule early, late or on closed days so customers and staff are not disrupted. For breakdowns, we come when you need us.

Is there any extended coverage on new commercial equipment?

Maintenance plan members can extend the labor coverage on an installation. We explain how that works when we go over your replacement quote, so you can decide if a plan makes sense for your building.

Do you serve businesses outside Colfax?

Yes. We also work with businesses in Pullman, Moscow, Lewiston, Clarkston and Cheney. Our Service Areas page lists the full area.
