Furnace Installation in Colfax

When your old furnace is done, we size a new one to your home, install it with care and test every part before we leave. Then we check back once you've lived with it for a few weeks, so small questions get answered before winter does the asking.

A new furnace, put in right and looked after

Replacing a furnace doesn't come up often, so most homeowners have little practice at it. We make the choice easier. We walk through your house, ask what you want from your heating and hand you a written quote before anything happens. The estimate for an installation or replacement is free, so there's no pressure to decide on the spot.

This job means gas lines, venting and combustion, and our team works under a gas heating mechanical license for exactly that reason. We tie the new furnace into your current setup, adjust it for your house and show you how to run it.

What we care about most happens after install day. We get back in touch to hear how the furnace is doing, answer any new questions and go over the simple steps that keep it working well.

What your furnace installation includes

Sizing for your home
We look at square footage, insulation, windows and how your rooms heat today. A furnace that's too big short-cycles and wears out early. One that's too small runs nonstop on cold nights.
Removal of the old unit
We disconnect the old furnace safely, cap what needs capping and haul it away. You won't be left with a rusty cabinet in the garage.
Gas, venting and electrical hookup
We connect the gas supply, set up proper venting for the new unit and wire it to your thermostat. Every connection is checked for leaks before we light it.
Startup and safety testing
We fire the furnace, measure temperature rise and check the flame, the safety switches and carbon monoxide at the vent. We don't call it done until the numbers look right.
A walkthrough and a follow-up
Before we leave, we show you the filter, the thermostat settings and what normal sounds like. A few weeks later we reach out to make sure it's heating your home the way you expected.

Signs it may be time for a new furnace

  • Repairs keep stacking up

If you've called for furnace repair more than once in a season, the money may be better spent on a replacement. We'll give you an honest answer either way.

  • Your furnace is getting old

Many gas furnaces start wearing out somewhere past the 15-year mark. Cracked heat exchangers and failing parts become more common with age.

  • Rooms that never warm up

Cold bedrooms, a chilly back room or a thermostat you keep nudging up can mean the furnace can't keep pace anymore.

  • Heating bills creeping higher

Older furnaces lose efficiency as burners and blowers wear. If your usage looks the same but bills keep rising, it's worth a look.

  • Odd smells, soot or a yellow flame

These can point to combustion problems. If you smell gas, leave your home and call the gas utility first, then call us.

How install day goes

  1. 1

    Free estimate at your home

We visit, look over the furnace you have now and talk about your choices. The written quote you receive lists the equipment and every part of the job.

  2. 2

    Prep and protection

When we arrive, we cover the floors along the route we'll use and keep our work space neat. Swapping a single furnace usually takes one day.

  3. 3

    Install and test

The old furnace comes out and the new one goes in. We hook up gas, venting and power, then put it through a complete startup and safety test.

  4. 4

    Cleanup and walkthrough

We tidy up, take the old unit with us and show you how to swap the filter and run the thermostat, along with what to keep an eye on.

  5. 5

    We check back

After the furnace has been heating your home for a while, we get in touch to hear how it's doing and answer anything new. It's a good chance to fix a setting that needs a tweak.

What affects the cost of a new furnace

Every home is a little different, so we price each install once we've seen it. Your written quote lists the equipment and labor before any work begins, and the estimate itself is free.

Furnace size and efficiency
Higher-efficiency furnaces cost more up front and less to run. The right size for your home also changes the price.
Venting changes
High-efficiency furnaces often vent differently than older models. If the venting needs to be rerouted, that adds time and material.
Access to the furnace space
A tight closet, crawlspace or basement with narrow stairs takes more effort than an open utility room.
Gas and electrical updates
Older gas lines, shutoffs or wiring sometimes need updating to meet code for the new unit.
Permits and timing
Gas furnace installs typically need a permit and inspection. Installs during the coldest weeks can also be harder to schedule, so planning ahead helps.

Furnace installation questions

Something not covered here? (509) 769-3613

How long does a furnace installation take?

A straight swap usually wraps up in a single day. New venting or gas line work takes longer, and your written quote states how much longer so you can plan your day.

Should I repair my furnace or replace it?

That comes down to how old the furnace is, what failed and how many repairs it has needed lately. We show you what we see and tell you plainly. When fixing it is the better deal, you'll hear that from us.

Is there labor coverage on a new furnace install?

Yes. Maintenance plan members can extend install labor coverage, and we explain how it works when we go over your quote, either on the phone or at the estimate.

What happens after the furnace is installed?

Before leaving, we show you the filter and the thermostat. After you've run the furnace for a while, we check back. A yearly tune-up on one of our maintenance plans helps it keep running well for years.

Will I be without heat for long?

Normally only while the old unit comes out and the new one goes in. On a cold Colfax day we plan the work so the house is warm again by evening whenever possible. If the old furnace gives out before your install date, our emergency HVAC repair line can get heat back in the meantime.

Do you install other heating options?

We do. If a heat pump or ductless mini-split interests you, we can weigh it against a gas furnace for your house while we're there for the estimate.
